A Day of Sunshine is a nonprofit organization created in memory of my dear friend Marie, whose life was a testament to kindness, compassion and the power of community. Inspired by her legacy, our work is rooted in compassion, prevention and accountability.
We are committed to helping prevent homelessness by connecting individuals and families with financial assistance, trusted resources and meaningful support before instability becomes a crisis. We also want to be a voice for small businesses facing challenges with landlords, city departments, infrastructure and other issues that can threaten their livelihood.
We hope to develop programs beginning in elementary school and continuing through middle and high school to encourage compassion, awareness, responsibility and community involvement from an early age.
Through education, encouraging responsibility, practical support and real help, A Day of Sunshine hopes to help people, families, small businesses and neighborhoods become stronger and more stable.
As homelessness has become a worldwide crisis, we hope A Day of Sunshine can grow beyond Los Angeles and become a model that communities can adapt to their own needs.
